How to

Register your business for text messages

Prepare truthful business and consent details for review, then verify carrier registration and number readiness before customer texting.

  1. 1

Select the intended business and open Settings → Phone & voice → Business texting registration. Use the business's existing bsns phone number. If registration is unavailable, ask support about the rollout before purchasing anything else.

  2. 2

Review the setup fee and recurring campaign charge shown in Billing before enabling business-texting registration. Paid registration access is separate from carrier approval and from the phone-service subscription.

    Settings → Billing

Payment does not guarantee approval or delivery. Verifying a personal number for outbound caller ID does not enable texting from that number.

  3. 3

Work through the steps. Choose your business type: an LLC, corporation, non-profit or government body enters its legal name exactly as on its EIN records and the EIN; a sole proprietor without an EIN enters the owner's legal name and the owner's own mobile number instead. Check the contact details, address and website filled in from your business profile. Edit the suggested message examples, HELP/START/STOP replies and opt-in description so they match what you actually send and how recipients actually agree, confirm the opt-in description, and add your public privacy-policy and messaging-terms URLs. If choosing a mix of purposes, select at least two and give an example for each.

Describe the consent flow you actually operate; the suggested wording is only a starting point. A phone number, a purchase, email permission or this platform's general disclosure page alone is not evidence that someone agreed to your SMS program. EIN information is retained encrypted for registration review. A sole proprietor registration covers one number with lower sending limits, and a name containing LLC, Inc or Corp needs the EIN registration.

  4. 4

Submit the completed details for bsns review, then follow the displayed carrier-review status. For a sole proprietor, the carriers then text a verification code to the owner's mobile; enter it on the same settings page within 24 hours, or send a new code. Respond to requested corrections. If an earlier submission may already exist at the carrier or its outcome is unclear, contact support before attempting another registration.

Registration can incur provider fees. Repeated submissions are not a safe way to refresh status.

  5. 5

Record permission for each recipient separately from registering the business. Open the customer's contact page and, when available, expand Record SMS opt-in. In Consent evidence, record when and how they agreed, the business and message purpose disclosed, and the reference to the proof you retained. Confirm the permission-and-evidence attestation, then choose record SMS opt-in. If this control is unavailable, contact support before sending; do not treat a generic preference switch as consent evidence.

    Chat · Contacts → customer → Record SMS opt-in

Only attest to permission you actually have. Registration authorizes a business program; it does not enroll every customer. Use record SMS opt-out when a recipient withdraws permission, and do not reverse it without a new valid agreement.

  6. 6

Before customer texting, confirm with support that the real campaign is approved and your primary business number is assigned and ready. Another from-number does not inherit that approval; additional lines need their own confirmed assignment. Rehearse an inbound message, an expected outbound reply, HELP and STOP with a consenting tester; confirm both delivery and opt-out behavior.

Test mode or a mock ACTIVE result is not carrier approval. Carrier review and number assignment are separate readiness steps; no approval time or delivery rate is guaranteed.

Worth knowing

  • Keep evidence of each recipient's SMS-specific agreement and honor opt-outs. Do not import contacts and assume they consented to texts.
  • An existing carrier campaign has a fixed registration category. Editing or resubmitting this form does not change that category; ask support to review any required change before another submission or charge.
  • The public SMS disclosure explains the platform program. Each business must provide its own accurate program identity, contact information and actual opt-in evidence; the general page does not enroll anyone.
  • Voice calls, personal caller ID and business texting have separate setup and availability. A working call does not prove SMS is ready.
