How to

Create and send a proposal to a client

The client receives an email with a link to review and approve the proposal.

  1. 1

To start from products you have already added to a project, open the project's selections, tick the rows you want and choose Create draft proposal. To start from nothing, open proposals and choose the new proposal button, give it a name (optional), pick the client, link the project, and choose create draft.

Shop · project → selections → Create draft proposal, or proposals → new proposal

Link the project when you create the proposal. Rooms and sections only work on a proposal that is linked to a project.

  2. 2

On the draft, add anything missing. When the draft is linked to a project and the option is offered, choose Choose products for this project to pick from that project's placements.

  3. 3

Choose preview as client to see exactly what the client will see. Check the photos, descriptions, prices and the total.

Shop · the proposal → preview as client

Nothing in the preview can be approved or declined. Catalog photos and specifications appear on the client's page, so fix them in the catalog before sending.

  4. 4

Choose send to client. If an email wording menu is shown, pick the wording to use, or leave it on the workspace default.

Shop · the proposal → send to client

The proposal needs at least one line, the client needs an email on file, and the project needs a sales tax rate. If sending is refused for the tax rate, choose Set up the project’s address and sales tax and try again.

  5. 5

If you have already given the client the proposal some other way, choose mark as sent (no email) instead. It changes the status but does not create a link for the client.

Worth knowing

  • Only a draft can be edited. To change a proposal after it was sent, see Revise and resend a proposal after it was sent.
  • Once the client approves, the proposal moves to approved and you can generate purchase orders from it.
