How to

Buy and email a return label for a web order

The customer receives prepaid, trackable postage tied to the original order so they can send an item back.

  1. 1

Open the web order and choose 'create return label' in the return-label section.

Shop · web orders → open the order → return labels

  2. 2

Check the customer's return-from address, enter the package and weight, and save it to see return rates.

    Shop

The saved address is where the original order went. Change it if the parcel will actually leave from somewhere else.

  3. 3

Choose a rate and buy the label, then print it or email it to the customer with an optional instruction note.

Shop · the order → return labels → choose rate & buy

Buying return postage requires a connected EasyPost or Stamps.com account and a customer email before the label can be sent.

  4. 4

Use the return leg on the order to watch tracking and confirm delivery back to the shop.

Worth knowing

  • A return label records the inbound shipment; it does not refund the order or decide whether an item is saleable. Record the money and inventory outcome separately in the refund panel.
  • A draft with no postage can be discarded. A purchased but unused label can be voided and its postage refund requested.
