How to
Edit or remove a customer's primary, billing, or shipping address
Correct a customer's address on their customer page and understand which address a new phone order will use.
- 1
Open the customer from the customers list in Shop and find the addresses panel on the customer detail page. Address controls are separate from the general Edit customer form.
Shop · customers → customer → addresses
Customer addresses must be enabled for this business, and saving changes requires permission to manage customers. If the panel or controls are unavailable, ask your workspace admin or support.
- 2
For the primary address, choose edit primary address, correct the street, city, state, or zip, and save. When there is no primary address, choose add primary address instead.

- 3
To clear the primary address, choose remove, then yes, remove. Choose cancel to keep it.

Removing the primary address clears its fields and cannot be undone. You can enter a replacement with add primary address, but the old values are not restored automatically.

For a separate bill to or ship to address, expand edit bill to address or edit ship to address, change the fields, and save. Use add a bill to address or add a ship to address for another location; choose remove on a saved address to stop using it.

Saved bill-to and ship-to addresses are archived when removed; removing one does not clear the separate primary address. A saved address needs a street and a two-letter country code.
Worth knowing
- New phone orders start from the newest-updated saved address of each kind, then fall back to the primary address. If there is no primary address and only one usable saved address, that address is used for both billing and shipping.
- Check both addresses on the phone-order form before saving. Changing the customer's file does not rewrite an existing order's addresses; an unpaid phone order has its own edit flow.
