How to

Connect a bank and review imported transactions

Import selected bank accounts and review their transactions alongside existing expenses without automatically creating expenses or posting to QuickBooks.

  1. 1

Select the business that owns the accounts, then open Finance → Bank transactions. A business admin manages connections; finance access lets authorized people review the feed. Reviewing and matching expenses also requires expense access. If Connect bank is missing or connections are paused, contact support about availability for this business.

Work · Finance → Bank transactions

  2. 2

Choose Connect bank, complete the requested multifactor authentication, and follow Plaid's bank sign-in flow. Review the account names and select only the accounts you intend to import. Finish the account-selection and import-consent steps in bsns.

    Work

Connect accounts belonging to the selected business. Access to another business's bank account does not make its spending an expense of this business.

  3. 3

Return to Bank transactions and check the connection status, selected accounts and Last checked time. The bank may provide recent activity before older history. Refresh the page later if the first import is still preparing; creating another connection is not a refresh.

  4. 4

Review each posted transaction and any suggested existing expense. Compare the business, merchant, date, currency and amount before confirming a match. If there is no suitable expense, create and approve the expense separately through your expense workflow; the feed does not create it for you.

    Work

A match links records for review. It does not approve or pay an expense, send money, or create an entry in QuickBooks.

  5. 5

If a matched transaction or expense changes, review the Match needs review notice. Use Undo match when the link is wrong; the underlying expense remains unchanged. Pending or removed bank activity needs review before treating it as a settled purchase.

  6. 6

Use Manage accounts to change the imported accounts or Reconnect bank when requested. To stop future imports, choose Disconnect. If provider confirmation is pending, use the offered retry to finish disconnecting.

Worth knowing

  • Bank connections are available to enabled businesses during the current rollout. A working connection is not a statement that Plaid has approved the app for unrestricted access.
  • Imports refresh asynchronously. The displayed check time does not guarantee the bank has supplied all its latest activity.
  • Repeated updates of the same provider transaction are tracked, but do not assume a new connection, a CSV import and a QuickBooks bank feed will deduplicate against one another. Check for existing expenses and accounting entries before adding anything.
  • Disconnect stops future imports and preserves imported transactions and expense matches. It is not a request to erase historical records.
