How to
Ring up a counter sale
A walk-in or saved-customer sale records payment, tax, inventory movement, drawer impact, and an optional receipt together.
- 1
Open the register, choose the selling location, and add or scan every item in the cart.
Shop · register
For serialized stock, choose the exact tracked unit. The register will refuse a unit that is already out or otherwise unavailable.
- 2
Select the saved customer when there is one, apply an authorized coupon or discount, and verify tax before taking payment.
Shop
A cashier cannot invent a discount or one-sale tax exemption. Those actions require the corresponding permission and a recorded reason; a customer's saved exemption is applied from their record.
- 3
Take cash, card through the connected reader, gift certificate, or the supported split, then finish the sale and send or print the receipt.
Shop
If the register shows an unknown or captured-card recovery, finish that exact payment. Do not take a second card payment while the first outcome is unresolved.
- 4
For a return, find the original receipt, select the quantities and whether each item is saleable, review the server quote, and refund to the original method.
Shop · register → returns
Restock only a physically returned, saleable item. A cash refund is recorded against the open drawer; a card refund does not require the customer's card to be present.
Worth knowing
- Use Sell + invoice instead of the register when the sale should create a sendable receivables invoice; use a proposal when the customer needs to approve scope first.
