How to

Connect Gmail and let Wren use it

One personal Gmail account is connected read-only, with a separate permission that lets Wren use bounded mail context only when you ask.

  1. 1

Open Work settings, choose Gmail workspace, and connect or reconnect your Google account.

Work · settings → Gmail workspace

The connection belongs to your bsns.cc identity across businesses, not to one business. The private pilot supports one Google account. If the Gmail workspace card or page is absent, your identity is not in the rollout; a workspace admin cannot enable it from business settings.

  2. 2

Approve Google's read-only Gmail grant and return to the Gmail workspace page until the account status is active.

    Work

The initial grant can search and read mail. It cannot send, delete, archive, or relabel messages. Reconnect first if the page says the credential or read grant needs attention.

  3. 3

Under Wren + Gmail, choose 'allow Wren to use Gmail'. This is separate from connecting the mailbox.

Work · settings → Gmail workspace → Wren + Gmail

If the button says Wren's Gmail path is not enabled for this pilot environment, that rollout gate must be changed by bsns.cc support; it is not a workspace permission. You can remove Wren's permission later without disconnecting Gmail.

  4. 4

Open Wren on mobile, or press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K) on web — in Work or in chat — and switch on 'Gmail context' at the top of the palette. On web you can optionally paste a Gmail thread link or thread ID to scope the question to one conversation.

    Work · Cmd+K → Gmail context

The toggle lives in the command palette, not in a chat thread, and it appears only once the two steps above are done. A Gmail session is private and is not saved, which is why it cannot run inside a stored chat conversation. Gmail is included only when you explicitly turn it on, switching the setting starts a clean session, and Wren may search up to 20 summaries and read up to five relevant threads for one question.

Worth knowing

  • Mail, attachments, and linked pages cannot authorize actions or select a business. Attachments and linked pages are excluded, and Wren cannot send or modify Gmail.
  • The mail context and response are not saved to Wren history, assistant memory, a mailbox index, logs, or model training. An approved task is the exception: its reviewed title, notes, and trusted Gmail link are saved in the active business.
  • From a selected thread, Wren may prepare a task, but no task is created until you approve the exact copy.
